The World Health Organisation has recently published an informative guide on mental health considerations as we all adjust to life during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Below are some of the recommendations that resonated with me:
1 Minimise access to news that makes you anxious or distressed.
2 Seek information at certain times of day – do not get swept up in the 24-news cycle.
3 Lean only on trusted sources. For me, it is the WHO and Public Health England relating to COVID-19. What are yours?
4 Find opportunities to amplify positive and hopeful stories.
5 Continue taking care of yourself by maintaining healthy habits and routines.
6 Help children find positive ways to express feelings such as fear and sadness.
7 Learn simple daily physical exercises to perform at home, in quarantine or isolation to maintain mobility and reduce boredom. Now we can use all those clever apps that have been patiently waiting to spring to life on our devices.
